The Lore of Wojak

Spawned in history around 2009–2010 on Polish and German imageboards like Krautchan, Wojak derives from the Polish word for "soldier" or "fighter". Wojak is the world's leading internet meme characterized by a simple, MS Paint-style, black-and-white drawing of a bald man with a wistful, melancholic expression. Also known as "Feels Guy," the culture around Wojak has evolved from a simple reaction image representing sadness or nostalgia into a vast, complex universe of characters used to represent, mock, or empathize with various human archetypes and social stereotypes. Wojak became famous on 4chan, Reddit, and other online forums for a "hug" meme where a distressed Wojak embraces another character, accompanied by the phrase "I know that feel, bro," acting as a form of online consolation. In essence, a digital support community of people who can relate to one another although they know little about each other.

Wojak is the soul of the internet. The heart of online meme culture. We are truly all Wojak.
